Students in Dr. Makarewicz’s Regional Growth & Equity class recently visited DRCOG’s offices to learn first hand out about regional planning and Metropolitan Planning Organizations. The students are working on two projects with DRCOG this semester. The first is to identify the need and willingness to work regionally on strategies to support people experiencing homelessness and the second is an in-depth analysis of the proximate housing, access, and jobs in the region’s major job centers. The first project will be presented to the City and County Managers association and the second project will help DRCOG to determine how to incorporate job centers planning into their analyses, especially from an equity lens. It will provide more detailed input to the Brooking’s Institution’s economic analysis of the region.
