Frequently Asked Questions | Badging Policy

In the Spring 2022 semester, the College of Architecture and Planning (CAP) at CU Denver piloted the university's first Visible Badging Initiative. Students, faculty, and staff were asked to wear their badges at all times when on campus in an effort to ensure a safer and more secure campus. As a result, issues of theft and unauthorized visitors in our building decreased exponentially.

Visible ID Badging Policy Overview

Beginning Tuesday, September 6, 2022, the CU Denver Building will be equipped with badge scanners in the elevators and the stairwells to further enhance building security. The First-Floor Lobby will be accessible to everyone (with or without a badge), but in order to visit the second floor and above, you will need to scan your badge.

You must have your university ID with you and be visible when you are in the building. For safety reasons, we ask that you not open the door for anyone.  University policy also restricts the use of CU Denver ID cards to their owner; therefore, students may not lend their IDs to anyone else, including other students.

Students have access to the computer and fabrication labs in the semester in which they are enrolled. Access to the CAP computer and fabrication labs is restricted to CAP members only. Additionally, access to the Digital Fabrication Lab requires the completion of necessary training.

As badging takes effect in the CU Denver Building and as we adapt to this new building entry process, we have created and will continue to update this webpage as a resource to you.
