Mission Statement:

This garden is rooted in a partership with the Rose Medical Hospital that strives to re-establish nutrition as one of the key pillars of health and healing. While this garden's primary mission is to emphasis the importance of nutrition in healthcare (for both patients and hospital employees), there is an additional healing component that provides patients and caregivers with opportunities to learn about, consume, and grow specific foods that alleviate their symptoms and support their healing processes.

Vision Statement:

A scenario where public health institutions incorporate more holistic approaches that prioritize nutrition and connection with the soil within their programs.

Educational Activities:

The following educational programs are intended to provide different forms of support for patients undergoing cancer treatment. Some of the primary side effects of chemo/radiation include nausea and vomiting, fatigue, appetite changes and weight loss, mouth and throat soreness, and digestive issues, among others. These treatments are separated into two primary categories: hot and cold.

By cultivating a stronger connection with the Earth and utilizing natural remedies, this garden promotes a holistic approach to medicine and healing with the following learning objectives: 1) develop practical skills in herbalism, including identifying, harvesting, and preparing medicinal plants for various health purposes; 2) engage in hands-on activities such as gardening, composting, and seed saving, promoting environmental stewardship and sustainable living practices; and 3) cultivate mindfulness and stress reduction techniques through activities
