Michael P. Griffith, PLA, LEED AP, is a Practice Builder with Kimley-Horn and a leading urban design practitioner with over 16 years of experience transforming public realms. Known for challenging traditional right-of-way design, Griffith specializes in reimagining roadways and civic infrastructure as parks, multi-modal amenities, and resilient green spaces.

Griffith possesses a depth of design experience collaborating with the City and County of Denver’s Division of Green Infrastructure from early conceptualization through complex implementation. He has held leadership roles on several of the Denver metro area’s most prominent public realm transformations, including the 16th Street Mall Redevelopment, McGregor Square, Skyline Park, and the Sloan’s Lake Redevelopment. Notably, he led the landscape and urban design scope for the Brighton Boulevard Redevelopment, which won the 2024 Mayor’s Award of Excellence for an Urban Design Project.

In addition to his professional practice, Griffith serves as an elected At-Large City Council member for Arvada, representing 125,000 residents and driving critical infrastructure and development decisions directly affecting the local community. An alumnus of the university, Griffith brings this unique dual perspective as an award-winning practitioner and civic leader straight into the classroom to train the next generation of visionary urban design leaders.
