Jocelyn Beausire

Jocelyn Beausire (she/they) is a researcher, writer, performance artist, and designer originally from rural Wisconsin. Her work explores embodied action as a form of critical spatial practice and an emergent tool in the design process through a feminist, queer, and ruralizing lens. Beausire carries a Master of Architecture from Princeton University, where she received a certificate in Media and Modernity and was awarded the Suzanne Kolarik Underwood Prize for her thesis on maintenance sheds. She also holds a double Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Architecture Studies and Music Performance from the University of Washington in Seattle. 

 

Beausire's writing has been included in LOG, Thresholds, Tiny Cutlery, ARCADE NW, and Emergency Index, among others, and she has presented research at Coded Objects: Between Absorption and Isolation, held by the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut; Homes for Singles, held in São Paulo, Brazil and organized by José Lira and Beatriz Colomina; and We the Bacteria: Notes Toward Biotic Architecture for the 24th International Exhibition at the Triennale di Milano. Her design and performance work has been featured nationally and internationally by FLUX Factory, Westbeth Gallery, Glasshouse, YellowFish Performance Festival, ChaNorth Artist Residency, La Wayaka Artist Residency, Base Experimental Arts and Space, and SOIL Gallery. Beausire has practiced with LTL Architects in New York City, NY, Besler + Sons in Hopewell, NJ, and Schemata Workshop in Seattle, WA.
