Rai made a move to administration in higher education after teaching for many years at the secondary level, including designing and facilitating professional development opportunities focused on interdisciplinary curricular collaborations and literacy initiatives. After twenty years in Los Angeles, CA, including work with the Los Angeles Public Library's Adult Literacy Program and the University of California Los Angeles, Rai returned home to Colorado. Rai holds a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Master of Arts in Education, and a Graduate Certificate in Instruction and Curriculum for the Secondary Language Arts from the University of Colorado Boulder.
