Signature Events

Career Fair

CAP hosts an annual Career Fair each February involving local and national firms. Career Fair is the best opportunity for students and employers to connect. Our unique Career Fair combines a traditional fair model with employer tabling with interviews or individual meet-and-greets.

Portfolio Review Night

CAP hosts annual portfolio review nights. Members of the practice community get to provide valuable critique and recommendations to prepare students as they begin applying for jobs and internships. This is a wonderful opportunity for employers to support emerging professionals while getting a sneak peek at students’ design sensibility.

Student Professional Development Workshops

We host a variety of workshops to support students in building professional skills throughout the year, such as resumes, cover letters, networking, interview skills, LinkedIn, building your portfolio, and more.

Portfolio Support

Applying for positions or advanced degrees in a design-related field requires that you do more than simply present your experience and skill set. It is commonly expected that you provide examples of your creative work through a portfolio. We recommend that you use CAP’s portfolio resources in the following order to help you maximize your time and energy:

  1. Attend a Portfolio Workshop: CAP offers these workshops during the year, sometimes in conjunction with student organizations, to help you organize your creative work. Please consult the CAP calendar for dates.
  2. Get Peer Feedback: Some of CAP’s student organizations host peer review sessions to get early feedback on your portfolio.
  3. Get Professional Feedback at Portfolio Night: Each year, CAP hosts a Portfolio Night with the practice community to help you learn more about employers’ expectations, receive direct feedback on your current version, and understand how to polish your resume for your next step, whether you plan to apply for graduate programs, internships, or full-time jobs.
