eDEN (ecodesign DENver) is an extensive network of slow streets and open streets (closed to thru traffic), punctuated by outdoor dining areas, and lined with productive landscapes and public art.

Learn more about eDEN in the video below!

Weaving through the city, within 1 mile of every resident, this distributed park will provide all who live in Denver with access to a vital and vibrant public realm, contributing to improve health and well-being for everyone, while enhancing connections among diverse neighborhoods.

In the booming silence of Spring 2020, when cars suddenly disappeared from the roads, and the half-mile radius around our homes became neighborhoods again, I imagined a Ramblas on steroids for Denver: a network of shared and open streets connecting our communities and providing quality public spaces to gather, exercise in fresh air, grow organic produce, host farmers’ markets, create public art, and much more.

    -Nan Ellin, Dean

When Denver later opened streets for people and prioritized non-motorized vehicles, we studied them to identify successes and lessons learned. We then initiated pilot projects to begin creating the network of open and shared streets.
