Where We Work

Map of UTAP project locations

The CU Denver University Technical Assistance Program (UTAP) provides design and planning students each year with experience working with real clients on projects that provide Colorado communities with specialized knowledge, skills, and operational support. In the last 50+ years, UTAP (formerly known as the Colorado Center for Community Development) has provided technical assistance to approximately 3,000 projects over 50 years.

What distinguishes UTAP from other design centers is its roots in community development and a fundamental principle of engaging residents in the design and planning process. Projects range from wayfinding signage, trails and parks, and corridor master plans to converted and new public buildings like fire stations, libraries and town halls.
