DEADLY MEDICINE | NATIONAL HOLOCAUST MUSEUM

Date: March 20, 2018 - May 22, 2018

Deadly medicine feature

A traveling exhibit from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Deadly Medicine: Creating the Master Race, was on display at the Fulginiti Pavilion for Bioethics and Humanities in 2018. Students were invited to author a short case scenario of an ethical issue that might be faced in the health professions.

This first competition is inspired by the Deadly Medicine exhibit, and the case should explore an ethical topic related to lessons learned from the legacy of health professionals’ voluntary involvement in the WWII Genocide/Holocaust.

Exhibition materials include a video with Patricia Heberer-Rice, PhD, and Matthew Wynia, MD, at Misericordia University, with a presentation and a brief tour of the Deadly Medicine exhibit from The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, presented by the Maimonides Institute for Medicine, Ethics and the Holocaust.

Deadly Medicine closing event featuring visiting scholar, Dr. Matthis Krischel from Germany who presented "Medicine and Politics in Nazi Germany" followed by a reading by Sudanese refugee poet and playwright Helen Abyei. The AMC Orchestra also performed.
