Scott Lawrence

Dec 7, 2020Scott’s research, teaching, and practice are focused on hospitality design and critical questions of context in architecture. He has received multiple honors for his teaching and design work. In 2019, the design-build studio that he leads, Idaho Design Build, received a prestigious AIA Northwest and Pacific Region Honor Award for its Hat Ranch Winery.
Scott is dedicated to extending education beyond the classroom. He has led multiple travel studios, and as President and Co-Founder of Immersion Workshop (a nonprofit educational organization), he coordinates and leads intensive, in-residence studios for international groups of design professionals, recent graduates, academics, and advanced students focused on context-specific design.
As a Lecturer at the University of Colorado from 2009 to 2017, Scott taught a wide variety of architecture studios and design communication courses. He was a founding partner at the firm Nguyen Lawrence, which has been recognized for its work on restaurants in Colorado.
In 2009, Scott earned his Master of Architecture from the University of Colorado Denver. In 2006, he received a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Colorado Boulder.
