Senior City Planner, City and County of Denver
Feb 9, 2021Eugene serves as a Senior City Planner with the City and County of Denver, where he works within Denver’s Community Planning and Development Department. As a member of the Neighborhood Planning Team, Eugene manages the development of area plans for the city’s Neighborhood Planning Initiative.
One of those plans is the West Area Plan, a community-driven effort that creates a long-term vision for multiple neighborhoods. The plan addresses topics such as land use, zoning, multimodal transportation, affordable housing, parks and open space, and cultural inclusion and diversity.
Eugene first discovered his love of planning through his local neighborhood association. When Eugene became a homeowner, he knew he wanted to invest time and energy into the neighborhood he called home. He began attending neighborhood association meetings and soon served on the board. This was where he learned about the urban planning profession. Today, he is a certified planner with the American Planning Association.
Eugene holds a Master of Urban and Regional Planning degree from the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver), and a Bachelor in Telecommunications and Broadcast Journalism from the University of Georgia. Committed to education, Eugene serves as an adjunct professor for CU Denver’s College of Architecture and Planning.
