Advisors can help you in numerous ways related to degree planning, university policies, careers, and personal and professional development. Not sure who you need to talk to or where to go to have your question answered? State with your advisor and we are happy to direct you.
Advising is a collaborative relationship of shared responsibility between student and advisor. Though you, the student, are ultimately responsible for the decisions you make regarding your academic career at CU Denver, advisors are available to assist you in making informed decisions that are best for you. Very rarely will you hear us tell you that you have to do something; rather, we will discuss with you the benefits and consequences of your options and allow you to make your own decisions.
To ask questions that will help you to make informed decisions.
To stay up-to-date on academic calendar deadlines, College, and University policies.
To be familiar with your degree requirements for the major/program you are pursuing.
To regularly check your @ucdenver.edu email account. Note: This is the official mode of communication used by CU Denver - choosing not to check your email account is choosing to be uninformed.
Please note that any mass email sent by the College of Architecture and Planning will be coded with one of the following labels in the email subject line: Urgent/Critical or Informational. If the message is Urgent/Critical, read the message immediately, as action from you is required; there may be consequences if no action is taken. Informational messages are also very important for you to read in order to be an informed student, however, they typically do not require immediate action. These labels are currently only used for mass emails sent by the College of Architecture and Planning; you will receive other CU Denver emails without these labels.
To be in communication with your advisor about your progress toward graduation, academic performance, and academic concerns as they arise.
All CAP advisors are located in the CU Denver Building - 2nd floor, 1250 14th Street.
Appointments to meet with your advisor are strongly encouraged; however, walk-ins are also welcome based on advisor availability.
Advising hours are generally Monday-Friday from 8:30AM - 4:30PM. However, individual advisor hours do vary, and advisors may not always be available during these times. To schedule an appointment, please call the CAP front desk at 303-315-1000 or contact your advisor directly.
Undergraduate students admitted as Pre-Architecture in the College of Liberal Arts and Science should contact the Academic Success and Advising Center (ASAC) for advising at 303-352-3520 or visit the ASAC webpage.
BS Arch undergraduate students are required to meet with an advisor prior to registration their first term, as well as prior to enrolling in ARCH 3110 Design Studio II.
