The College of Architecture and Planning holds at its core a commitment to social justice and equity. Planning and designing for a more just and equitable future means pursuing fair outcomes for racially, ethnically, and economically disadvantaged groups and recognizing that we have a special responsibility to prioritize the needs of the most marginalized among us. Working toward social justice and equity means believing that every community member, regardless of income, age, race, or ability, should share in the benefits of planning and design and be given an equal voice in the decisions that impact them most.

Faculty and students in the College of Architecture and Planning are committed to solving these complex challenges and regular engage in work focused on affordable housing, gentrification and displacement, immigrant integration, low-cost and pre-fab housing and transportation equity.
