As CoPR’s Assessment Coordinator, Melanie is involved with classifying existing conditions, recommending treatment approaches and options, and analyzing potential reuse opportunities for the historic buildings and structures that surround us.  The goal is to thoroughly understand the building’s condition prior to any physical work being accomplished. She has performed over 75 historic structure assessments throughout Colorado and brings a broad background in historic preservation project design and management.  Melanie is a registered architect in the state of Colorado and a LEED Accredited Professional.   Projects in Colorado range from a Historic Structure Assessment of Denver’s Union Station to the LEED Platinum adaptive reuse of Engine House No. 4 in Lower Downtown Denver.  She is also a lecturer in the College of Architecture and Planning, teaching a graduate class on Building Conservation and Building Technology.  Melanie has a B.A. in Art History with a certificate in Technology Studies from Grinnell College in Grinnell, IA and a Master’s degree in Architecture with a certificate in Historic Preservation from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
