Laurence Keith Loftin III grew among the crab shacks of Tidewater Virginia, received an undergraduate degree in the Gothic fantasies at Princeton University and a Master’s Degree in Architecture on the Lawn at Mr. Jefferson’s gracious university in Charlottesville. He fell in love with the lovely vernacular houses of Colorado Mountain towns, and gradually realized that Traditional and Classical Architecture were treasure troves of ideas, means and methods. He has taught an “Introduction to Architecture” course for many years and recently “The Art of Traditional Design.” He is currently directing the Center for Advanced Research in Traditional Architecture.
