MURP Program Preview Day
Dear newly admitted students,
We invite you to attend the MURP Program Preview Day to learn more about our program and visit our unique location in Downtown Denver. Meet faculty, students, and alumni, learn more about our curriculum, tour our facilities and Downtown Denver, and get all your questions about living, learning, and planning in Denver answered!
This year's MURP Program Preview Day will take place March 15, 2024 in the College of Architecture and Planning in the CU Denver Building at 1250 14th Street in Downtown Denver. Please read below for information on the agenda.
There will also be optional morning activities from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. These include sitting in on a class, visiting a planning firm near campus, and meeting with our faculty.
After the event, we will post a PDF copy of the presentations and a recording of the morning portion of the event.
Friday, March 15, 2024
9:00 am: Check-in with coffee & pastries for optional activities.
Optional Morning Activities [Registration link]:
9:00 - 9:15 am: Meet at CU Denver Building (1250 14th St) and walk with current MURP students to one of the following local planning organizations.
- 9:30 - 11:00 am: Visit downtown project of City and County of Denver, with two CU Denver alumni who are city planners for the Community Planning and Development (CPD)/Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) [Up to 10 spots] (201 W Colfax Ave) [Note this is 0.7 miles from campus]
- 9:30 - 10:30 am: Visit Downtown Denver Partnership (DDP) [Up to 6 spots] (1515 Arapahoe St #100) [Note this is 0.3 miles from campus]
- 9:30 – 10:30 am: Visit Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) [Up to 5 spots] (1001 17th St #700) [Note this is 0.4 miles from campus]
9:00 - 10:45 am: Meet at CU Denver Building (1250 14th St) and go on a Lower Downtown Walking Tour with professor Ken Schroeppel
9:30 - 11:45 am: Attend a class - URPL 6355: Urban Redevelopment Strategies (CU Denver Building, Room 2005) Topic: What’s next for Downtown? with guest Kourtny Garrett (President & CEO of Downtown Denver Partnership) [Up to 5 spots]

11:00 am - 12:00 pm: Meet with Planning Professors, from different topical areas (Transportation, Housing, Environment, Urban Design etc.), CU Denver Building, 3rd floor Research Center, “The DEN”.
Main Event:
12:00 - 4:30 pm: The main event includes lunch, program overview, practitioner panel, building tour, meeting with current students, and a campus tour. After the campus tour, you are invited to attend a reception with alumni, current students, and faculty at the Tivoli brewery.

The MURP Program Preview Day will be held at the CU Denver Building at 1250 14th Street, located on 14th Street between Larimer and Lawrence streets in Downtown Denver.
Our building is located two blocks from the 16th Street Mall, which features the free MallRide shuttle that stops at every block allowing passengers to hop on, hop off at their convenience. The 16th Street Mall connects Civic Center Station, the Downtown Light Rail Loop, and Denver Union Station—making it easy to access and move around Downtown without a car.
We encourage you to walk, bike, scooter, or e-bike (via Lyft or Lime), car-share, ride-share, take public transit to Preview Day. If that won’t work for you, there are a few surface parking lots and garages nearby, both downtown and on campus. Utilizing metered street parking is not a viable option as the downtown parking meters have a two-hour limit.
