    The Colorado Outward Bound Micro Cabins by students in CAP’s Design Build program Colorado Building Workshop under the direction of Assistant Professor of Architecture Rick Sommerfeld have received one of the 2016 Residential Architect Design Awards: a Citation Award for “Custom House Less Than 3,000 Square Feet.

    Professor Herdt receives second patent

    Julee Herdt, professor of architecture and architect, AIA, has been awarded a second United States Patent, along with co-inventor and research partner John Hunt, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Products Laboratory, and alumnus Kellen Schauermann (MArch 2009), architect and project manager at Boulder Associates Architects. This latest patent is for software and computational methods used in the design of biobased, environmental building materials and inventions from waste fibers.

  • Alumna Receives AIA Young Architect Award

    Korey White, an alumna of the College of Architecture and Planning (CAP), recently received a prestigious national award. She was selected for the American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) 2018 Young Architects Award. White received her MArch and MURP degrees in 2013 and currently works for Stantec, an architectural and engineering firm with clients worldwide, in Arlington, Va. The AIA award honors individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the architecture profession early in their careers.

  • CAP Honorees among 40 Under 40

    Once again, the University of Colorado Denver produced an impressive group of business leaders who were honored as members of the 2018 class of “40 Under 40.” Four honorees are graduates of CU Denver and a fifth – Maria Delgado – is currently a PhD candidate in design and planning in the College of Architecture and Planning (CAP).

    CAP runner-up in national HUD Affordable Housing competition

    A team from the CU Denver College of Architecture and Planning (CAP) earned a $10,000 prize for finishing as runner-up in the national HUD Innovation in Affordable Housing student design and planning competition. The recent competition took place in Washington, D.C.
